Nice work, there. Crater Lake is some of the coldest water I've ever jumped in, NOTHING felt cold after that. So yeah, your painting made me smile.

Very nice. Very reminiscent of Sphere and Interstellar.

One detail, however, that I think might add to what you've got, is some kind of environmental disturbance around the object. Something that shows the environment reacting to it's being there.
